UN ambassador's phone lines crash due to overwhelming homeschool lobby

In a nutshell, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child empowers the United Nations and its peacekeeping forces to trump all of our branches of government and our Constitution in deciding matters of parental rights; international law would become our standard.  The Convention, if adopted, would certainly reduce parents' rights not only to homeschool, but could also have the final say in areas as detailed as the play equipment in private yards, to the number of times a child can be required to attend church per week, the type of discipline allowed in the home or the contents of school lunch boxes sent from home.  Sound a little over the top?  It is.

All parents, not just homeschoolers, need to get up to speed on this proposed law.  The website http:///www.parentalrights.org contains links to the wording of the Convention as well as action citizens can take against the proposal.

You may contact the White House comment line at 202-456-1111. It may be busy, but keep trying; it is open from 9 to 5 EDT. However, you can also send the White House a message online.

Also, contact your senators. Find their contact information by using the Homeschool Legal Defense Legislative Toolbox .  Congressional offices also close at 5 (EDT).  When I contacted Iowa legislators several months ago, they seemed unaware of the issue.  Let's make sure that changes.  Press your senators for their position, and request a reply.
