 MYTH: Boots are only shoes

FACT: It’s ALL about the boots (and they’re never just shoes)

First, let me tell you that this is a TRUE story.  Yes, that’s right-it actually HAPPENED.  No urban legend here!

***One caveat: Name changed to protect the quasi-innocent***

The story goes like this. One sunny Sunday, my best friend from college, Kelly, was walking in the West Village. Downtown being what it is, Kelly was feeling stylish amidst a fairly trendy crowd. ‘Well, this is New York City,’ you might say. ‘I bet everyone thinks they look good!’  Oh, but this is no ordinary Lucky-reading, Style.com-obsessed city woman Nope. Kelly is from Connecticut, but not one the usual suspects- Stamford, Greenwich, or any of the “urban” suburbs.  Her hometown? A bit closer to the “I’ve-never heard-of-it-did-you-have-electricity-growing-up"-part of Connecticut.

But I digress (more on the questionable fashion taste of some parts of CT to come later).

Why was Kelly feeling just so stylish you might ask?  Ah yes, the magic question.

Kelly was wearing boots.  Not just any boots, mind you.  Knee-high boots.  Bandolino chocolate leather side-zip boots. With a khaki pencil skirt. Kelly had power and she knew

it, strutting (perhaps, intentionally strutting) down that busy Manhattan sidewalk. Kelly looked good. And oh yes, did she FEEL good too.  It was no wonder then, that a man sitting on a stoop would take notice of just HOW good she looked.

As Kelly sashayed past this man, he exclaimed, “Damn girl, you got it going on!”

Kelly knew that this comment was due purely to THE boots.  This country mouse was commanding attention on the city stage all because of her shoes.  Kelly smiled wide and strutted past feeling pretty darn good about herself.

That is, until the same compliment-bestowing man glanced back after she had passed and belted, “But you ain’t got no — well…” Ok, so keeping this PG, let’s just have out with it.  Kelly has NO butt. None. Zero.  Nada.

However, she DID have those boots….

Whether it's Cole Haan, Kenneth Cole or Nine West this season, an abundance of choices in all heel heights, fabrics and styles are available to you to strut your stuff.
