In these rough economical times, Lotus Living and Wholeness Center offers a space for stress relief. Located in the Hyde Park community, Lotus is tucked into a quiet, tranquil nook at 1715 E. 55th Street. Fitness professional and Thai massage practitioner, Bill Pavelec, opened Lotus Living and Wholeness Center over two years ago, to enable Hyde Parkers to participate in their wellness through fitness classes, private fitness training, and massage. Mindful of the heavy burden of unemployment and tight pocket books, Bill opened 8 classes to the community for free.
What classes are offered for FREE?
You are welcome to attend 2 Gentle Yoga classes, 3 Hatha Yoga classes, and 3 invigorating Walking classes each week. The 60 minute Gentle Yoga class relaxes, stretches, and strengthens the mind and body. Participants learn and practice yoga through gentle expressions of postures and breathing techniques. Similarly, Hatha Yoga at Lotus introduces basic yoga poses, relaxation techniques, and simple breathing exercises through a slow-paced 60 minute class. At various times throughout the week, one of the Lotus fitness professionals leads the Walking class, including 10-minutes warming the body and stretching, 30 minutes walking near the lake, and 10 minutes cooling down and stretching. Each class is designed to bring stress relief, movement, and a feeling of peace to those who attend.
