Learn the facts from this nonprofit organization:

Fact: Anyone can be a potential donor regardless of age, race or medical history.

Fact: An open-casket funeral is possible for organ, eye and tissue donors because throughout the donation process, your body is treated with care, respect and dignity.

Fact: If you are sick or injured, the number one priority is to save your life. Organ, eye and tissue donation can be considered only after you are deceased.

Fact: All major religions in the United States support organ, eye and tissue donation and see it as the final act of love and generosity toward others.

Fact: There is no cost to the donor or his/her family for organ or tissue donation.

In Indiana, there are two ways that you can register your donation decision:

1) When you renew your driver's license or I.D. at your local BMV branch.

2) Online through the non-profit Indiana Donor Registry.
