
The Toronto Public Library has an extensive program for Teens

It is the third day into Toronto’s heatwave. With city officials urging Torontonians to find somewhere cool to relax, the Toronto Public Library is an excellent refuge.
With the launch of their Word Out Teen Summer Reading program, parents will have an easy time encouraging their teens to spend the day in the library.
Here are a few of the upcoming events:
Wed Jul 07, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. At the Pape/Danforth branch
Drop in for this interactive comic book workshop, with helpful tips from the Freeze DNA team. Free tickets are available one hour before the program.
Wed Jul 07, 2010 from 3:45 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. At Brookbanks in the Auditorium
Create your own comic book by using simple step-by-step instructions. Discover your artistic and writing talents, learn to draw TV characters.

3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. At the Malvern Branch
A fun program that enables you to work with professional artists and writers to create your own fiction, spoken word poetry and graphic novels. You will also receive your very own copy at the Launch Party on July 21 from 6-8 pm. Call 416-396-8969 to register.
Tue Aug 03, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. At Agincourt Branch in the Program Room
Learn how to make your own zombie make-up from household products and apply it for horrifying effects. Hear about cool zombie teen reads too!
Wed Aug 04, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. At the Sanderson Branch in the Program Room on the Main Floor
Learn how to draw manga and comic book style art with guest artist Matthew Dimuantes. All materials provided. Space is limited. Register at the branch or by calling 416-393-7653.

TD Summer Reading Club for Kids
The Toronto Public Library's TD Summer Reading Club is also heating up in various branches and online for the younger set. Kids who join will receive an activity book, poster and stickers, as well as being able to take part in various author and illustrator events.
