With the New Year upon us, it’s time to get to your 2010 Writing To-Do list.
If one of your resolutions is to write more, you should also be thinking about how to keep track of what you’ve written and where you’ve submitted it.
Part One in my Submission Tracking Series for writers will spotlight WritersMarket.com and their invaluable resources for writers of all mediums.
Writer's Market Online
If Writer’s Market is the Bible to writers seeking markets for their work, WritersMarket.com is its tech-savvy cousin.
Since 1921, the hard copy version of this market listing has been providing writers of all shapes, sizes and genres with the contact information with editors and agents.
Now available online, the digital edition offers daily tips, market spotlights and news.
With the ability to search their database and quickly hone your search by filtering out the ones that don’t fit your criteria, writers are now able to do the equivalent of a marathon search in record time.
Perks of membership
Although access is only granted with paid membership at Writersmarket.com, the complete WritersMarket.com 1-year subscription is only $39.99, a great deal for those looking to get more serious about their writung careers.
Once purchased, the membership provides writers with over 8,000 listings for contests, magazines, agents and publishers, as well as a host of other markets looking for submissions, as well as their popular online submission tracking tools.
Track your submissions
Now called “My Markets”, WritersMarket.com’s submission tracker allows members to add information on their manuscripts.
By selecting a listing from the Writer's Market database or by adding your own custom markets, based on keywords, genre or type of writing, Writer’s Market truly becomes customised to each individual user.
Set a reminder
Another great feature is the ability to set a custom reminder. After selecting a target date, you can rest easy knowing Writer’s Market will notify you via their website and via email as your deadline approaches.
Tools for your writing arsenal
The addition of a virtual community through their blog, chat forums, user groups, and a newsletter with insider information and updates on products in the entire Writer's Digest family, WritersMarket.Com celebrates the written word and offers a robust series of tools that every writer should have in his or her arsenal.

I love the accessibility of the online tracking. I got slack last year for buying the paper copy of the WM, but you get a free membership to the online community when you do.
It is a hefty book but yes, I think the free membership is worth buying the book! I've bought it for a few years now, but I do sort of like the online option - not so dizzying to find what you want.
Thanks for your comment Jenny! I'll be featuring a few other trackers this week if you are interested in checking out other options!
