If you need writing advice, and you are a student, staff or faculty member, or an alumnus/alumna of the University of Colorado at Boulder, CU's Program for Writing and Rhetoric invites you to bring your boggle over to the Writing Center, free of charge. From August 30 to December 14, the Writing Center will offer fall semester hours of 10 AM to 6 PM from Monday through Thursday, and from 10 AM to 1 PM on Friday.
The Writing Center isn't a computer lab where you go to get your homework done. Nor is it a copy-editing service. Instead, it's an optional teaching resource whose primary goal is "to teach members of the CU community how to be more skillful, self-aware, resourceful and confident about their writing in every possible rhetorical context.... What we provide is individualized attention and advice for learning to write clearly, purposefully, correctly, and memorably. Our staff of writing consultants, trained in collegiate composition and rhetoric pedagogy, meets one-on-one with writers to provide feedback and advice tailored to each client’s writing situation." (Writing Center Faculty FAQ)
In other words, the Writing Center staff recognize that writing is not simply the province of English majors and professional writers, but is central to academic life and beyond.
Services are by appointment only. To make an appointment, first make sure you have registered for an account, then log in to access the scheduling web site.
Even if you're not part of the CU community, the Program for Writing and Rhetoric (of which the Writing Center is a part) can help you out. Visit their Resources page for a list of writing links that will help you improve your writing and research skills.
