Facebook as a social networking tool assists with getting you noticed.

For writers it is common to work in a very isolated environment.  Many of us need peace and quiet to get our work done.  We usually have our own methods that work for each of us to undertake the task of putting word to paper (or monitor, as the case may be).  However, this can be problematic if you are trying to make a living as a writer.  Finding the balance between writing time and networking is critical for the success of a professional writer.

A fantastic way to promote your business is to get involved with a local group or organization.  If you have a niche or specialty, try checking out a group with that common interest.  If you write about fishing, find a fishing group or online forum.  If you write about animals and animal welfare, volunteer at a pet rescue.  Interested in fashion, perhaps there is trade show or exhibit you can attend. 

Of course, itís always a great idea to get involved with your local chamber of commerce.  They are a great place to network and get referrals.  There are also writer-specific organizations that can help you get more vocal in the writing scene, partner with other writers, get support, find leads, and have a community of forum of which you can be a part.  Some Los Angeles organizations for writers are:
