The submission window is still open for the 5th edition of VoiceCatcher's annual anthology of Portland women's writing.  But time is running out.  To be considered, all manuscripts must be postmarked by March 31, 2010.

General Submission Guidelines:  VoiceCatcher will consider submissions only from women who think of themselves as local "Portland area" writers.  VC will allow some leeway, but please be reasonable.  "You cannot be local if you have never lived here or near here."

Short story, essay, creative non-fiction, memoir, and other long-form prose:  VC is looking for new writing that has not been previously published.  Please submit no more than two pieces of prose.  Each prose piece should not exceed 3000 words.

Poetry:  Again, only new writing that has not been previously published.  Please submit no less than two and no more then four poems for consideration.  Longer poems should not exceed six pages.

VoiceCatcher is a women's collective--editors, authors, artists, poets, and teachers--that grew out of Portland Women Writers' workshops led by Emily Trinkaus, M.A.  VC is a not-for-profit association, run by volunteers and overseen by a Board of Directors.  Their collaborative efforts result in the creation and publication of an annual anthology of new poetry and prose.  They also provide written feedback to those who submit their writing, schedule public readings, and support various contributor events.

When first released, VoiceCatcher 4 was available for purchase throughout the greater Portland area at Powell's Books, Broadway Books, 100th Monkey Studios, Looking Glass Bookstore, New Seasons Markets, Food Front Cooperative Grocery, St John's Booksellers, Annie Bloom's Books, In Other Words, Vancouver's Cover to Cover Books, and many other local, independent booksellers.

Submissions for VoiceCatcher 5 should be sent to VoiceCatcher, P.O. Box 6064, Portland, OR   97228-6064.  A $5-$10 suggested reading fee would be gratefully accepted.  This is not a mandatory fee, but rather an invitation to help VC's editors and staff members continue their work.  For more information, please email editors@voicecatcher.org or check out their website
