Malashock Dance "Shadows of Mercy" Review

On Saturday, April 18th, I had the privilege of witnessing a unique
interpretation of John Malashock's contemporary dance presentation
performed to Leonard Cohen's music and lyrics.

And Mr. Malashock definitely has a hit!

On a simple, black stage at the Garfield Theater in the San Diego Center for Jeweish Culture, the stage came alive with a colorful display of modern, contemporary dance interpretation to the unique sounds of Leonard Cohen.

Mr. Malashock has spent years realizing his dream of creating a delightful and poignant show to his passion for both Mr. Cohen's music and dance. And he did so with success!

The talented dancers, many of whom have performed all across the country, demonstrated a modern, visually stimulating art that brought a new meaning to the dance world. My eyes feasted on their movements with reckless abandon, and both moved and delighted my senses. In all, ten dancers utilized their talents in a combination of ballet, modern dance, jazz, and even some acrobatic moves.

Without a doubt, Malashock Dance is San Diego's best kept secret which shall prove to be some of this city's best talent. I believe you shall be seeing much more of Malashock dance very soon all over San Diego, and many more cities in the near future.

Shadows of Mercy is a must see! I encourage you to visit their website, http://www.malashockdance.org/ for more information and upcoming performances!
