Beyond Veterans Day: Organizations say 'thank you' to veterans in the workplace (continued)

Some companies give their employees the day off on Veterans Day. Other companies make their workplace an environment where veterans can thrive. Here are more organizations that say “thank you” to veterans every day of the week.

Volt Workforce Solutions

Volt Workforce Solutions is dedicated to helping veterans adjust to life as civilian workers. In July 2009, the company launched the Volt Military Heroes Program. Through this program, Volt is helping veterans find employment opportunities at some of the top corporations in the country—which can be found on the program’s Web site. The site also features interviewing and resume writing tips, and success stories to motivate unemployed veterans as they navigate through this tough economy.

"With thousands of servicemen currently returning from Iraq, Afghanistan and other U.S. military operations, we believe it is the duty of Corporate America—and a key goal of Volt—to seek out these highly-skilled individuals and provide them with the job opportunities they have earned and need," said Tom Daley, President of Volt Workforce Solutions.

Vendio Services, Inc.

Although Vendio Services, Inc.—an eCommerce solutions provider in San Mateo—does not have a formal program for veterans in the workplace, they do whatever they can to support employees that have served our country. For example, when a member of their customer service team returned from a year of active duty in Iraq, Vendio made sure that his transition went smoothly.

“Vendio has been great since my return from Iraq. They provided me with all the time I needed in regards to returning back to my job," said Edward Wray SSG, US Army Reserves. “They also understood that my life had changed over the year and allowed me to find a schedule that worked for me to spend more time with my young daughter. Finally, after I returned to work I was allowed the time to relearn my job that had changed from my departure.”
