Working moms celebrate World Breastfeeding Week, August 1-7


World Breastfeeding Week is Aug 1-7, 2009

Tomorrow kicks off a week-long awareness campaign, World Breastfeeding Week (WBW), to promote, protect and support breastfeeding around the world. The 2009 theme is "Breastfeeding: A vital emergency response," and the week's celebration will focus on the important role breastfeeding plays in emergencies worldwide. "Whatever the emergency – from earthquake to conflict, from floods to the flu pandemic – the story is the same," says the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action, "breastfeeding is a lifeline and a shield that protects infants in emergencies."

WBW is the perfect opportunity to educate and bring better awareness to breastfeeding, especially for working moms who often face scrutiny from employers who don't fully understand the benefits of breastfeeding. Additional information about breastfeeding and how you can celebrate WBW can be found here:
