Taking kids to photograph New York City monuments, Mamapalooza and a Pow Wow
By Carolyn Tann-Starr
There are many interesting things to see and do around New York City. As a NY Working Mom looking for ideas to share with favorite members of the neighborhood stroller brigade, sometimes looking for cool think and do moments with the wee people can be a bit daunting. After all, there is a lot to balance when one is new to writing about work and play. Social media resumes do not happen overnight. They are built one blog post at a time, one Facebook album at a time, one any social media platform of your choice entry at a time…
If you are going to do this with the shorties in tow, you are going to have to map out your playtime so the adults and kids each get a turn at having some educational fun while on the hunt for some eye candy. Visual stimulation is a wonderful way to engage anyone who can appreciate the point of view you decide to share. For instance, take this train in the grass next to the Queens County Borough Hall’s office. It is a free spot for the little people who love Thomas the Train to run up and down in and safely peek at the wheels (a fence keeps them from getting too close). It is also under 24 hour police camera surveillance so if you pack a lunch you can sit on one of the benches outside the Supreme Court exit adjacent to this monument and snack with your wee one before heading off on your next shutterbug adventure.
Queens Borough Hall has some very interesting architectural features. You can discover more about it here: http://www.nyc.gov/html/dcas/html/resources/queens_boroughhall.shtml
Need a little help picking something fun to experience to inspire you to collect some eye candy? Take a trip into Manhattan to have a double play date at Mamapalooza and a spanking Pow-Wow.
