Job of the day: New York City Civil Corps one year service initiatives

The City of New York is looking for a few good volunteers to staff the NYC Civic Corps. If you are a New York City resident who is a “recent college graduate, experienced professional or community leader interested in dedicating a year of service to New York City” on-line applications are being accepted until June 30,2010.
Candidate eligibility requirements for applicants looking to apply:
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Must have a bachelor's degree or higher by September 1, 2010
- Must be willing to serve full-time (40 hours per week) for one year, beginning in late August, 2010.

According to NYC.gov, “The ultimate goal of the NYC Civic Corps is to engage more New Yorkers in volunteerism to support non-profits and public agencies as they address some of our City's greatest needs.” The monthly stipend is approximately $1,163 and NYC Civic Corps members may receive an end of service educational award or a post-stipend.
