Madeline and I visited the Denver Zoo yesterday. This is a "must do" and "repeat often" on my list.
We arrived about 9:30a.m. as I wanted to beat the heat plus the afternoon crowds. We found a nice shady parking spot. Parking is free (bonus!). We slathered on our sunscreen (a must!). And, headed to the ticket counter. Easy line as they had lots of people manning the booths.
For kids under 2, it's free. For kids aged 3 to 11, it costs $7.00 to get in. For those 12 to 64, it costs $12. And, for seniors (65 and up), it's $9. (Please note, these are the summer admission rates. See the Denver Zoo's website for the winter rates.)
We headed left as the group of Mom's and kids we were meeting were already there and looking at the hippopotamus.
Madeline delighted in the different animals. We stopped and looked at the fancy birds (one can even feed and hold these birds), gorilla's (though I always feel bad when I see them), monkeys, and elephants. She also loved the tropical rainforest exhibit.
We were only there for about two hours. The heat started to take over and nap time started to call. The Zoo has so many different exhibits (we definitely didn't get them all in). It's worth repeat visits and excursions.

Comments
It's too bad one can't go back without paying another fee if you were unable to do it all. Perhaps they have family rates or passes for the summer, etc. I would hope they would be accomodating and help families with expenses.
