The International Licensing Expo 2010

The International Licensing Expo is quite the affair. A Las Vegas convention, bursting at the seams with the unique blend of business meets entertainment. The most truly entertaining part of the show was not the six-foot movie screen playing the latest summer trailers, but the way people can be a direct reflection of the company they work for.

I equate it to the philosophy that all people start to look like their dogs, except in this case the people resemble their work.

There were some companies at the Licensing Expo that involved the ever-so trendy vampires. It seemed all the people working for such company had pale skin, dark hair, and devious eyes. Then there are the childrens brands, with adorable plush toys, and bright colors, with employees who have an endless amount of cheer emanating out of their pores. Lastly, you have the serious business person, rolling their briefcase (yes, there are briefcases on wheels. No, it is not cool) all the way to their nondescript booth, where I presume that they make important phone calls and have people do important things for them.

All in all the show is very interesting, and meeting a business associate face to face is beyond crucial. But it makes one wonder… what am I reflecting? And if I am the personification of my work, is that the person I want to be?
