Girl's Youth Olympic Games National Qualifier wraps up in Oklahoma City, OK

Twenty two female wrestlers showed up in Oklahoma City, OK with hopes of repesenting Team USA in one of four weight classes (46kg, 52kg, 60kg, and 70kg) at the Youth Olympic Games.  Four wrestlers emerged victorious and in doing so gain the opportunity to qualify for the Youth Olympic games.  The next step is the Pan American qualifier followed by the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore.  For more information on the YOG visit TheMat.com.

Erin Golston of the USOEC was the first girl to qualify, beating Lauren Richardson in two straight matches at 46kg.  Golston won the first match 6-0, 6-4 and the second match 8-0, 8-0.

Kayla Brendlinger of Pennsylvania won the 52kg bracket, beating USA Junior National All-Americans Kayleigh Longley of Maine (6-0, 4-0) and Sarah Hildebrant of Indiana (1-0, 2-0).

The USOEC gained a second champion as Jenna Burkett won the 60kg bracket, beating 2x National Champion Krista Revelle of Kansas (2009 USGWA and Body Bar National Champ) in the finals by second period fall (3-0, 1:10).

The final champion of the tournament was 2009 USA Junior National Champion Julia Salata of Michigan.  Salata shut out 2009 USA Junior National All-American Demi Strub of Indiana 4-0, 4-0.
