Use less and give more

In honor of Earth Day, even the most stylish fashionista should be looking for alternative ways and places to shop and fashion designers who are making waves with their green business practices and recycled products.

USELESS launched a new campaign earlier this week and is now offering environmental and socially responsible products. USELESS is a social venture that aims to reinvent and revolutionize the way people think of themselves as consumers and how they view the planet. Their mission is simply to use less and give more. Each of the products offered help consumers to use less of the planet’s natural resources and give back to those living in developing countries. Creators Mark Simmons and Kathy Fletcher offer the trendiest and the coolest products with the lowest carbon footprints.

Even the USELESS packaging is made from 100 percent post consumer goods and customers are encouraged to reuse packaging for other uses. Ten percent of USELESS profits are also going to charities, such as Wherever The Need , a non profit organization that delivers eco san toilets and water supply to countries like El Sauce in Nicaragua, Sierra Leone in Africa and Ponnankoil in India.

On Earth Day, shoppers were able to buy the ultimate USELESS product, which was absolutely nothing. On April 22, shoppers could buy “Earth” for $25, receive nothing, and 100 percent of the sales go to water and sanitation projects. Currently “Earth” is still available for purchase on the website.

USELESS products range branded organic cotton tees, hoodies, hats, messenger bags and shopping totes made from recycled billboards, notebooks made from 100 percent consumer paper and BPA-free plastic reusable water bottles.
