Get your sequined and bedazzled battering rams ready! The Matthew Williamson for H&M line is dropping on April 23, 2009. That is just 10 days away! H&M known for their designer installments during the Fall season, is giving us what we want in the Springtime! And who better to give us gorgeous Spring and Summer product than Matthew Williamson. Known for his use of bright colors, bold patterns and lots of sequins, Mr. Williamson is a master at his craft. Creating his H&M line out of some of his iconic idea and patterns over the years he is literally making all of our fashion dreams come true.
But here is the catch! Have you ever been to the opening morning of the line launch? In the past we’ve seen H&M lines such as Stella McCartney, Victor & Rolf, Roberto Cavali, Karl Lagerfeld and most recently Comme Des Garçons. And they sell out within the first few hours. Why? Because droves and droves of high healed ladies anxiously wait outside the front doors hours before opening and when the doors are unlocked everyone runs in and grabs 3 of the same thing, (just to make sure they get the size that is right for them.) Then, the second wave of healed clad women chase after them to get their discards. It’s almost like Supermarket Sweep, with hundreds of fashion hungry women who only want the same exact product in the fruit section. It is insane. Now that is not to deter you because the fact of the matter is, getting a piece of the Matthew Williamson line for H&M is like grabbing a piece of history.
So just a couple tips to prep you.
1) There is only ONE store, yes ONE store in Los Angeles, that will carry the line. And that is at the Beverly Center on La Cienega
2) Show up early, doors open at 10am.
3) Dress appropriately, comfy shoes, and no heavy jewelry. You’d be surprised what you can get stuck on when you are in a rush.
4) Have a double espresso to get extra agility and spunk in your step.
5) And to answer that burning question....YES it is worth it to call in late to work.
The fashionable madness ensues in only 10 days! So start practicing your “supermarket sweep” techniques and I’ll see you on the streets!
