Echo Park Independent Co-op grand opening party was E.P.I.C.

Last week we got a sneak peak of the new store space E.P.I.C. just a mere 24 hours before their grand opening and kick off party. (click here) So of course I had to make my way to the grand opening party to fill in all the blanks. How will they lay our their merchandise? Will the wall in the dressing room, at first only with pencil markings be painted in time? Where are those amazing white vintage arm chairs going??

Well this space was laid out with not just with the customer in mind but with a vision for the future. A very un-cluttered, organized, simplistic and open living room feel was what Tristan and Rhianon put together. There’s room to move...and I guess room to groove... (okay that sounds cheesy.) But really it’s true. It’s open enough that as the customer you’re walking in and getting to appreciate all the intricacies of each item in the store. The croc embossed wing chairs, the origami chandelier, and especially their main focus the art, whether that art be the fashion, the accessories or actual art.   Plus with such a grand space, their vision of featuring more art and throwing community engaging events can all come to life.

And as this grand opening party commenced I couldn’t be more excited with this crowd. Future loyal patrons, friends, stylists, journalists and the artists and designers in the store were all mingling, enjoying caffeinated Jett Vodka. (yep, said that right! Caffeinated vodka!) and shopping! While there, I caught up with a couple of the designers with their unique pieces in the store. Designer Niki of Luxury Jones who I mentioned in my photo adventure from the previous story. Well her collection of vintage revisited boots are incredible. She restyles them with fabric, chains, ruffles, tiers, beads, jewels and makes once old forgotten shoes the most coveted and unique pieces for your feet! Then I met Michele Rose who’s graphic art and vintage flaire background give her an eye for simple chic garments and accessories with a quirky twist. And finally, just as I was heading out, I met the incredible Ashton Michael. Famed for his bowtie neck tattoo, Aston gives his clothes a strong designers touch with a stylist’s aesthetic. My only regret of the whole evening was not purchasing any of the Post-it art with donations going to Million Tree's LA. You can see some of my favorite art works in the below slideshow. It’s amazing how different artists envision and create beauty out of something so simple. I guess I’ll just have to go back to the store... which is already on the agenda!

I can’t wait to do a follow up on the Echo Park Independent Co-op as it plants its roots in the LA community and give’s LA something to be proud about. From your Editor-in-chic...I’ll see you on the streets!
