Watch out boys, it's everywhere!
The consensus is in with very surprising results. As mentioned in my previous column, “Boyfriend Jeans, no longer for just your boyfriends” the boyfriend jean is all the rage with the ladies! They are comfortable, an easy throw on, dress up, dress down, and now they actually fit in a flattering way for women.
But, when men were asked if they like the boyfriend jean on their girlfriends, 80% of them said, “What are boyfriend jeans?” Very very interesting. Oh right, men don’t follow fashion like we do. (Even though, don’t we all wish they did ladies?? Then we wouldn’t have to spell e-ver-y-thing out to them! Silly boys...) Well, once explained, the immediate reaction was “WHAT?! Girls wearing boyfriend jeans?!” Apparently, (note to self...) most men prefer the fitted jean, skinny jean, stovepipe jean and some even like the 70’s high waisted jean al a Jessica Simpson. But all in all, fitted to the woman's form is what men are most attracted to.. Hmm... I wonder why..... Actually, my favorite comment made was “Okay, well whatever you can do to help stop or reverse this trend would be much appreciated. Thank you.” Well, Thank YOU, D-Braff! ;)
Sorry boys, I hate to break it to you, but the baggy oversize pant thing is totally happening in fashion right now and not only in denim. From the Dhoti shape (what most people would consider the “MC Hammer” pant. It’s on the runway’s and already in savvy fashion stores like H&M and Zara), to the Harem pant and even the Slouchy Trouser. These new pant shapes are taking over, full steam ahead.
But not to fret, trends and fashion have cycles and I would say that we are currently on the upswing... Tipping point anyone?
So Boys, just ride out the trend. Besides, when girls wear these types of pants, they are dressing to impress other girls not to you. So Girls, when you are trying to get your fashion street creds go baggy, go torn, go boyfriend. When it comes to a date? Go for skinny or stovepipe. So whether its boyfriend or skinny, do what makes YOU feel the most fabulous and I’ll see you on the streets!

I can understand why guys dislike this look but I think it can be totally cute when worn right. And I have to completely agree when you say women dress to impress other women, not other men!
