I heard it again today. Someone was laid off from his/her job. In Hawaii, unemployment news has been dim. As reality sets in, it's about paying bills than buying the next fashion trend. It's discouraging, but this blog post is not a "woe-is-me" but one to help you stay in the game. It may be discouraging, but it is not debilitating. And how you look moreso should not be thrown at the wayside. You need to be attentive to your style as every potential person you meet could be a possible job lead or employer. Well, it is not about dressing in a suit all the time, but rather considering digging through your closet to evaluate your neutrals and classics to mix and match. For example, a white linen blouse can be paired with a khaki skirt as well as the skirt can be mixed and matched with t-shirts or blouses of blues, grays, yellows, greens, etc. and the white blouse is very versatile as it coordinates with most things. Classics and neutrals are timeless and if you must purchase anything, invest in these, as the pieces will survive the period of unemployment. The second investment piece, if you do not have one, will be comfortable flats as it is more dressy than tennis shoes, flip flops, and even sandals. You can walk, be mobile and still look professional if you need be. Granted, if you are going to the beach or working out, this does not apply. Use your discretion, but put your best foot and -best look - forward each and every time. Do not succumb to the unemployment strain.
