Project Runway season four winner and fan favorite, Christian Siriano showcased his Fall ’09 RTW collection at New York Fashion Week and what was one of the highlights of the line? His line of footwear debuted, which will be sold to the public at Payless ShoeSource!
Whoa! First Alexander McQueen at Target and now Siriano at Payless, what is this world coming to? I’m not saying this is a bad thing, I wish all top of the line designers would do something like this, but it is rather ironic and amusing considering that it is Siriano, who boasted of all his “expensive” tastes on Project Runway and who is now selling his line to the less expensive Payless.
I kind of wish he chose to market his clothes to the middle class instead of the shoes though. Because while I do love his style, I don’t think I’ll be able to rock a pair of the shoes, which all have his signature conical heel. (A little too high and “tranny” if you will for this 5’9’’ gal.) Maybe I’ll just have to snag one of the handbags he is designing for them as well.
The shoes, along with the rest of his collection are inspired by Egyptian landscape and will be sold between $25-$45 this fall. The shoes were given names like Slither, Saunter, SheDevil, Sand Strap and Strut, which not only feature a conical heel, but accents of pyramid studs and draped chains, according to a press release.
