Since the fall fashion forecast calls for hats to be hot, let’s get ready by wearing them now. Hats are not just for keeping the sun away from your face, although that is an important health factor in deciding to purchase a few. You can update an outfit or change your look in a minute with the addition of a hat. If you have ever felt you needed a finishing touch, a hat is probably the answer. They can also be lifesavers on bad hair days!
The most popular hats now are the fedora (a soft hat with a creased crown and a curved brim) and the ivy (a flat, beret-like cap). Fedoras are usually seen in straw or felt, while ivy caps can be leather, suede, linen, or wool. If you are new at wearing hats, start with a big floppy straw sun hat with your swimsuit or sundress. Maybe you already wear a cowboy hat with your jeans. When you are comfortable with that, branch out to a cloche, a close-fitting, bell-shaped hat like the ones offered by Talbots. Or try a newsboy cap, which is a little wider than an ivy cap. It has eight panels and a button on top. You MUST be confident and comfortable; you can’t be timid in a hat. Try on lots of styles to find the ones that are the most flattering for your face shape and hairdo. Sporty or dressy, there is a hat out there for you. Express yourself as you set the new trend for the Akron area!
