Swine flu vaccine safe for pregnant women?

In recent news, there are reports of pregnant women who have had miscarriages after receiving the Swine flu (H1N1) vaccine. Interestingly enough, I haven't found the number of reports expected in the United States. News from different countries around the world exposes this story more openly.

The CDC (Centers for Disease Control) reports on the benefits of pregnant women who have received the seasonal flu vaccine. A report issued November 2, 2009, states: “One recent large case control study* found that the seasonal flu shot (inactivated flu vaccine) given to pregnant women reduced flu illness in their infants under 6 months of age by 63%, confirming that seasonal flu vaccination of pregnant women can benefit both mothers and infants.” But there is no mention on the reports to the contrary.

Top government health advisory boards have said that the H1N1 vaccine is not advised for children less than 6 months of age. Why then, are pregnant women lining up with everyone else to take the vaccine? Reports from government officials are scaring people with probability forecasts of devastation from the H1N1 / Swine flu pandemic. CDC Swine flu specialist, Dr. Anne Schuchat says that pregnant women are “disproportionately” affected by the virus and have a fourfold chance of being hospitalized than the general population. Then what about the women who were not so fortunate as to reap the full benefits of this H1N1 vaccine? Those who have had miscarriages after getting vaccinated, I’m sure, will beg to differ.

Examine the reports I have been able to locate on the web concerning this vaccine and pregnant women:

Any person, male or female, pregnant or not, that gets this shot is a fool. Check out the videos by Barbara Loe Fisher, director of the National Vaccine Information Center for some solid facts on this fraud being perpetuated on the world by Baxter Pharmeceuticals.

Pregnant women should not get this vaccine. The package insert states that it has not been properly tested on this population.

    USE IN SPECIFIC POPULATIONS

Safety and effectiveness of Influenza A (H1N1) 2009 Monovalent Vaccine have not been established in pregnant women, nursing mothers or children less than 4 years of age. (8.1, 8.3, 8.4)

I know of women in the Hamilton area that miscarried the day they were vaccinated. Please consider these risks. There are many additives in these vaccines!

No evidence to the contrary? How about this:
"Maternal influenza vaccination did not reduce visit rates during any of the 4 time periods (IRR for peak influenza season, 0.96; 95% confidence interval, 0.86-1.07) and did not delay the onset of first respiratory illness. CONCLUSION: We were unable to demonstrate that maternal influenza vaccination reduces respiratory illness visit rates among their infants."

Source: Arch Pediatr Adolesc Med. 2006 Dec;160(12):1277-83.

The key words were 'reduced FLU'. Flu shot does not reduce respiratory illness, and has never been proven to reduce flu-related hospitalizations or deaths in children. In fact, according to CDC stats, flu deaths in kids are somehow now 10x higher than they were before they started vaccinated small kids for flu. I don't know why.
The Arepanrix package insert says it was associated with birth defects, miscarriages and developmental delays in rat offspring.
WHY is our government doing this?

Hey, just wanted to add I had the H1N1 vaccine 2 days ago, and I'm almost 16 weeks pregnant. I had it in the morning and later that afternoon I had a contraction that lasted at least 3 hours! I know this sounds impossible and I would not have believed it either but this is my 4th preg. no complications in the previous one's. I know what contractions feel like and have never had any this early in pregnancy and they never lasted more than a couple min.'s!! I have been laying around taking it easy and have had no bleeding or spotting so I am hoping that I'm in the clear. But after my experience there is NO DOUBT in my mind this vaccine can cause pre-term labor or miscarriage!

I agree with your readers who've commented - I wouldn't get this vaccine if I were pregnant. In fact, I'm opposed to it all together for reasons stated here and elsewhere.

Injecting vaccination into a pregnant woman is different than injecting the vaccine into the baby directly. That's why pregnant women can get the shots but infant younger than 6 months cannot. I am not saying that it is completely safe for pregnant women to get the vaccination, however, whatever the effect is, it is much less than injecting the baby directly.

A friend of mine just miscarried her 4 month old baby two days after recieving the swine flu vaccine. The baby's heart beat was normal and strong when they monitored before giving the vaccine at her doctor visit. This vaccine contains mercury and thimerisol (which requires Hazmat to clean up if spilled). I am heart broken over the loss of the little boy she was looking forward to adding to her family. Pregnant women beware!

My sister just delivered a stillborn baby last night at 26 weeks of pregnancy. Doctors have no clue why the baby died....perfectly normal, was growing on target, and was healthy and active on an ultrasound last week.
BTW, she had the H1N1 vaccine 8 days ago. I am definately suspicious.
