Kate Gosselin is 'starting over' with new hair extensions for a new year - photos

TV star Kate Gosselin is completely 'washing that man right out of her hair' by going for a new image and new look in 2010; Kate Gosselin, newly divorced from Jon, and of Jon and Kate Plus 8 fame, appears on the latest issue of People magazine, available on news stands tomorrow (Friday January 9th 2010), with long hair extensions.

Why Kate Gosselin got hair extensions

Kate Gosselin told People magazine her reasons for the new look:

“...I'm starting over.”

and “...I feel like this is a fresh start, a fresh me, a fresh life. There's no option for this not to be a good year. Now I get to start over with a new self and new goals.”

Divorced women who create new images

Many women who have recently become divorced feel the need to create a new image of themselves; ways in which newly divorced women create a 'new self' include:
 

• dieting – in an attempt to lose weight and feel happier and healthier
• make-overs – to gain back lost confidence and 'become' a new 'self'
• exercising – to become healthier.

Divorced women often suffer from depression, lost confidence and emotional and physical issues; by creating a 'new image', women often feel confident once again to face the world and move forward in their new life.  In addition, women who have recently gone through a relationship break up or 'traumatic' event attempt to overcome them by creating a new 'image;  recent examples include Rihanna posing naked for GQ magazine and Tara Reid posing topless for Playboy.

Kate Gosselin has received both compliments and criticism of her new look, which apparently took 20 hours to create; either way, it appears that Kate Gosselin is attempting to move forward with her life.
