Former Victoria's Secret model, Giselle Bundchen and her husband, Tom Brady, appear to have finally named their baby boy who was born on December 8th 2009; Giselle Bundchen's website posted a message from Gisele today, Friday December 18th 2009, which revealed the name of the baby.

Message from Gisele Bundchen announcing baby's name

The following message was posted on Gisele Bundchen's website:

“Hello!

I want to thank you all with all my heart for the immense love I have received here on the web site. It is a pleasure to receive messages from each one of you here.

I am living in a very special moment in my life, Benjamin is a blessing and I could not be happier.

I would also like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and 2010 with lots of light.

Kisses Gisele.”

The current trend for baby boys in the celebrity world

Gisele Bundchen is not the only celebrity mom to have had a baby boy this month; former Playboy model, Kendra Wilkinson, gave birth to Hank Baskett IV on December 11th 2009 and reality TV star Kourtney Kardashian gave birth to Mason Dash Disick on December 14th 2009.

Baby sex preference in the U.S.

According to in-gender.com, there is no evidence in the U.S. that baby boys are preferred over baby girls. Adoption statistics show that girls are actually the preferred sex for adoption, the birth ratio of girls to boys has increased since legalized abortion in the U.S. (although sex selection abortion is not common in the U.S.) and those seeking out the sex of their baby in the U.S., by a gender selection process, choose girls over boys.

However, the Gallup organization has consistently received the same answer in the past 50 years on whether Americans would prefer to have a baby boy or a baby girl - sons are the strong preference of men, with women preferring only a slight preference for daughters.
