You may be eligible for a larger tax refund when you file your taxes this year with the second chance stimulus check if you did not qualify for the stimulus tax rebate in 2008 or if you only received a small amount. Check over this list to see if you may qualify for more money.
- If you had a child or adopted a child in 2008, you may qualify for the Recovery Rebate Credit.
- If you were claimed as a dependent on someone's tax return in 2007, but cannot be claimed as a dependent on their return in 2008.
- If you did not have a valid SSN in 2007 but you do in 2008.
All you need is Form 1040, 1040A or 1040EZ to receive the rebate and you will receive the money as part of your tax refund.
If you are using Intuit's Turbo tax the software will automatically calculate any additional rebate amount.
If you opt to let the IRS do your filing for you, they can also check to see if you qualify.
Please note if you have already received the maximum you cannot receive this credit.
