Update this sofa with a fresh coat of paint!

If you are in the home decorating business you can save a lot of money by painting upholstered furniture to make it new again!

Or if you own a shop that sells used furniture you can paint out of date upholstered furniture and get more money for it when you sell it  Painting upholstered furniture is a quick, easy and cheap way to make it new again!

The first thing you do is buy your paint.  You can buy any cheap interior house paint in either flat or satin finish.  Also buy a paint tray and a cheap brush.

To paint your furniture just start slapping it on!  You may want to do a small area on the back of the furniture or on the inside of a skirt ruffle and let it dry so you can know how it's going to feel when it's dry painted upholstered furniture will feel leathery).  If you are satisfied with the look and feel go ahead and paint the entire piece.

Be generous when you apply the paint.  It will soak in a bit so you need to put on a good heavy coat.  Let it dry completely then apply another coat if necessary. If you want to get creative you can paint any design you want!  You can try stripes or dots or any geometric shape.  You can also paint the frame one color and use another color for seat cushions.  Don't like what you painted?  Paint over it!

Once you start painting upholstered furniture you may get addicted. You can even make money with your new hobby.  Just buy cheap upholstered pieces at yard sales, paint them then sell them for a profit!  You can be in business starting today!
