iPhone and iPod SnowGlobe Maker

Every now and then I find a really fun and interesting product. The iPhone SnowGlobe Maker is a great example. This app allows iPhone and iPod touch owners to make customized snowglobes. There are 10,000 possible combinations of animals and objects including snowmen, moose, trees and more. My favorite part is that you can either have the snow fall continuously or shake it just like a regular snowglobe and watch the snow gently settle back into place.

The Winter Edition is the first in a series of snowglobe art collections from Hawk Ridge Consulting and it’s available in the iTunes App store.

Julie McCool, is the founder of Hawk Ridge Consulting and a former executive at AOL. When asked about the product she said, “Since leaving AOL, I’ve been experimenting with new technologies and the excitement of the iPhone and the iTunes App Store was a real draw. It’s a wonderful platform for delivering new ways to be creative and express yourself.” She added that, SnowGlobe Maker brings that kind of expression to the iPhone, giving people an elegant and fun way to create globes they can use themselves and send to others.”

I also asked her to share her recommendations for other women in business. She said, “You need to take credit for the work you’ve done and the expertise you have, and then build on it.”

She also talked about the need to take risks. “Go for it! Trust that you have the talent to make your product idea real.”  She added that for her, “it’s important not to get overly concerned about the risk of falling short of particular goals. Better to at least take a shot, then to hold back because you may not hit every target.”

It looks like her risk taking has paid off with the introduction of SnowGlobe Maker.
