P.E.A.R.L. Girls of Promise, Inc. is a non profit organization in which P.E.A.R.L. stands for Poise Elegant and Responsible Leaders. The organization was created by Ms. Keisha Howard. Ms. Howard started the organization after working in Dallas/Fort Worth Schools as a Social Worker where she saw a need to help enhance and increase young girls self esteem. The program is open to young ladies ages 7-17 in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. It offers etiquette and social skills as well as other workshops throughout the year.
In addition to the non profit sector, Ms. Howard has a for profit organization P.E.A.R.L. Girls. It is an annual scholarship pageant open to high school juniors and seniors. This pageant is different from an ordinary pageant because it focuses on inner beauty and awards scholarships based on Academics, Public Service, Community Service, Leadership, and Special Challenge. Every girl is awarded a scholarship based on the judges scores and the winner is crowned Miss P.E.A.R.L. of Dallas.
P.E.A.R.L. Girls of Promise, Inc. is hosting an Empower Hour for girls 7-12 Saturday 6/12/10 at Central Market in Dallas. The workshop is $10 and will cover topics on self esteem, confidence, and etiquette's. For more information about this workshop, volunteer opportunities, or Ms. Howard please visit www.pearl-girls.org or call 972-795-5577. If you know of any young lady that can benefit from this awesome organization please pass along the information. Until next time...
