Seattle Chcolate Truffle Bars
Editor's Note: For President's Day I asked some movers and shakers to submit their favorite local female President/CEO. The winning entry from Nancy Juetten follows:
Jean Thompson, CEO, Seattle Chocolate Company, is an inspiring business leader who is living her passion for chocolate, loving her life as a mom and wife, and giving back to causes that are close to her heart.
The company donates 100% of the net profits from the sale of Survivor Chick Chocolates and the Extreme Dark Chocolate Truffle Bar to women's cancer charities.
Jean is a remarkably authentic, engaging, smart, and creative leader who brings "What Happiness Tastes Like" to chocolate loving women -- and the people who love them -- across America.
She discovered her love of chocolate as a young girl with a bag of semi-sweet chocolate pieces. Today she enjoys chocolate every day and works with her team to create new, delicious, and beautifully packaged chocolates people are proud to give and receive every day.
She took the helm at the company in 2002 when the prior CEO left. Prior to taking on this challenge, she was a stay-at-home mom for 11 years, caring for her son and daughter. It was no small task to take the top spot at a company in transition, earn meaningful new business in short order, earn the confidence of a 75-member production crew, and triple the business.
Her life is proof positive that you can have it all, though not necessarily all at once. Jean lives her passion, and that's an inspiring example to consider on President's Day.
Do you have a favorite female President?
