Those on either side of the debate on abortion may soon have to pay for other women’s abortions with their tax dollars. People of faith object because in a sense they will be forced to pay for the taking of innocent life; while there are those who are Pro-choice who do not wish to fund abortion due to general principles of the increase taxes they will have to pay.
Charmaine Yoest, Ph.D. - President & CEO – of Americans United for Life has sent out this e-mail asking that those who oppose this action contact their senators and let their feelings be known. Below is her open letter to all concerned citizens who wish to see this part of the health care bill defeated. She states:
Dear Friend,
Tonight, the Senate defeated the prolife Nelson-Hatch-Casey amendment, which mirrored the Stupak-Pitts language, prohibiting federal funds from being spent on destroying innocent life.
This crushing blow to the majority of Americans opposed to federal funding of abortion occurred after Senator Barbara Boxer of California motioned to table the amendment, a procedural move that spells defeat.
The Senate has spoken. They effectively endorsed the abortion lobby’s goal of mainstreaming abortion as health care and paying for abortion with our tax dollars!
Well over 1,000,000 innocent lives are ended by abortions each year, and now the U.S. Senate has chosen to move forward with a health care bill that will allow our federal tax dollars to fund even more abortions.
How can this be?
This morning, in a letter sent to Cecile Richards - the President of Planned Parenthood - and published in The Hill newspaper, I challenged Cecile to tell the American public how much money they will gain from the health care bill’s expansion of abortion.
Planned Parenthood is a billion dollar industry but according to a recent Harvard case study, their business is struggling financially. The abortion industry is the beneficiary of today’s vote. This is an abortion business bailout bill.
HOW TO TAKE ACTION!
I ask you to stand with Americans United for Life Action, on the merits of our belief that all human life is a sacred gift, endowed by our creator. This is NOT health care! Real health care protects life!
What now?
Next step:
Please contact your Senator TODAY to vote NO on cloture in order to end debate and kill this bill. We now have no choice but to work vigorously to defeat this bill
.
Organize your friends and family to call your Senator at (202) 224-3121 and e-mail with messages of NO to this pro-abortion bill!
Thank you for standing with us and defending life!
For Life,
Charmaine Yoest, Ph.D.

Woman to Woman:
Many women struggle with the matter of abortion – and there are two very opposing sides about the issue. Many feel that every child deserves a life and that it is wrong to take the life of a pre-born child. There are women who have been misled and have had abortions in the past – there will be many more facing this decision in the future. But this issue is really about neither.
This bill is supposed to be about health care – and to make sure that all people are able to receive the medical care that they deserve. No one has any fault with that premise. Christians believe in the sanctity of life at every stage of life; but they also believe that no one should be forced to pay for the abortion of another when it goes deeply against their own personal faith and religion.
It is simply wrong to force them to do so; and it is simply wrong for force Christian men and women in the medical field to have to make the decision to assist in anyway the taking of a human life or face losing their jobs. These are simply matters that should be decided on by the individuals in either case. There are Pro-life doctors and nurses who say they will leave the profession before assisting in abortions.
Women have a choice about their sex life and can use other forms of birth control rather than waiting to get pregnant and then aborting the child – it should not fall on the burden of others to pay for her choices
There is also a lot of debate going on about population control and “save the planet” notions by limiting women in the number of children she can have and there after being forced to have an abortion for any over the legal limit. Is this just a prelude to such laws?
This is certainly a prelude to losing more of our individual freedoms to make decisions for ourselves and not be forced into them by the government. Those who object to abortions should not have to pay for others to have them.
