In several previous posts written, I outlined some of the many wonderful aspects of wine. Besides being good for you, wine can bring people together for many reasons. It's used for celebration, creates song and brings joy into our lives. It even brings people together for charitable causes. Read below to discover some new and exciting charitable wine events from our friends in and about the wine industry.
Cheers to the small wineries with big hearts: There are small wineries with big hearts that donate a substantial portion of their wine sales to charity. There are even those that donate a 100% of their proceeds to charity. Ehlers Estate is one such winery that produces beautiful wines for the discriminating wine aficionado yet donates one hundred percent of the proceeds to the Leducq Foundation for cardiovascular research. This month Ehlers Estate will release five new vintages.
Cheers to those that donate to Earthquake relief: Recently, the aftermath of the 8.8 magnitude earth quake has caused substantial damage to Chile's wine region. The Momo brothers of the Terra Momo Restaurant Group had a very personal involvement with the Chilean earthquake. The group's inspiration and guiding force, Teresa who had retired to the Andes Mountains was lucky to have survived the earthquake. The Momo brothers have since decided to step up to the plate and have two Chilean wine events at their Mediterra Restaurant in Princeton. The events will take place March 8 and 10th. Call for reservations and details.
Cheers to the animal lovers:Now for all you animal lovers out there, on April 22 starting at 6:30pm Bacchus Wines in NYC will be hosting a charity wine tasting with silent auction, food and music to benefit the welfare of animals. Please note that 100% of the proceeds will go to help animals nationwide.
