While the world has recently converged on Los Olivos in search of Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch, the area is actually home to a wonderful wine region specializing in cool climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and Rhone-style Syrahs and white wines.
As you may remember from the movie Sideways, the Santa Barbara wine region is approximately two hours north of Los Angeles. It stretches from just south of Santa Barbara in Summerland to the north and west, including Santa Ynez and the smaller American Viticultural Area (AVA) of Santa Rita Hils.
Located midway within the region, the small town of Los Olivos is home to numerous tasting rooms, restaurants, galleries and quaint boutiques. Tasting wine in Los Olivos is easy – park once, taste at a multitude of places. Outside of the town limits, there are a myriad of vineyards, each with their own tasting room and array of wines.
Some of the notable tasting rooms in the area:
Andrew Murray
Beckman Vineyards
Coqueliquot
Daniel Gehrs
Epiphany Cellars
Longoria Wines
