Time to be a wine festivite by attending a wine festival

Bon Vin Voyage from winfestnews.com

Hurry and you still can get to some amazing wine festivals happening this weekend. The Wurstmarket in Germany is probably too far but the Grapefest in Grapevine, TX continues until Sunday, the 20th.

Head up to the Niagara Falls area (on the Canadian side) and sample some of their finest wines at the Niagara Wine Festival. This festival has a 10 day run ending on the 27th. www.niagarawinefestival.com
What about finding a flight to Grand Junction, CO, and drive over to Palisade for their 18th annual Colorado Mountain Winefest. What a way to spend a cool weekend in the Rockies with many wines and some even from Colorado. And you can try Grape Stomping too!

If you are traveling to that NYC hub, why not get out of Manhattan and visit the Cape May Food & Wine Festival in New Jersey. One of the prettiest jersey shoreline towns and one heck of a wine festival. Save room for Chowder contest! And this festival lasts from this Saturday all the way till the 27th, so you have plenty of time.

What could be more enjoyable than to be in Newport, RI, and visiting their famous mansions AND attending their Newport Mansions Wine & Food Festival. It starts next Thursday, the 24th through the weekend. Great romantic city, hint, hint.

Epcot down in Orlando hosts their annual autumn special, Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, beginning on Friday the 25th of this month and this one runs all the way to November 8th. If you are a red wine partaker, get to the park early because, at least from last year attendance, no one tells these folks that red wine left out in the average daytime temperature of mid-Florida this time of year means that the bottles will surely taste like 90 degree hot wine. It did last year, but the whites, of course, are chilled while the reds are left out in “room” temp. Oh well, it’s still Epcot so enjoy if you go.

Do you want to see those fall colors? Well head out to Mount Snow Valley in VT for their Vermont Life Wine & Harvest Festival held from Friday to Sunday, the 25th to the 27th. This festival showcases Vermont wine and VT producers of other fine stuff, like cheese! Classic Americana awaits your visit.

Yes, there is more to Columbus, OH, than football in the fall. Drop in for their Columbus Food & Wine Affair now in their 7th year.

Who doesn’t like South Beach and the greater Miami area? Use the Miami International Wine Fair at the Convention Center as your excuse to come out and be a little Latin by eating late, dancing even later and drinking wine all day. Open to the public from 4 to 7 on Saturday and Sunday the weekend of the 26th and 27th. And hotel rooms, like almost everywhere else in our great county, are a bargain.

As the crush hits the vineyards throughout the county, this is an enjoyable time to take off and see the harvest. Many of the regions are having a little fun by allowing you to join in the harvest. Check out your favorite winery’s web site and see if they are letting wine drinkers play/pretend to be producers.

Till next week we toast to your sybarite ways……..
