New Round Rock annex on schedule and budget

Partially built new county annex in Round Rock

The partially built J.B. and Hallie Jester Williamson County Annex in Round Rock was shown to the public in a preview party on Thursday. The new annex is needed as the current annex was built over twenty years ago and the Round Rock area has experienced phenomenal growth during that time, so the current annex is much too small to adequately serve the public. The 25 acre site was purchased in January of 2007 for approximately $2.8 from Butch Bradley and family, whose ancestors were some of the original settlers in the area and whose aunt and uncle, J.B. and Hallie Jester, lived on the site for many years. Moman Architects, led by John Moman, who is also a Round Rock City Councilmember, designed the building. Local construction firm, Chasco Constructors, is the construction manager. The total cost of the project is projected to be approximately $10 million.

The main building will be approximately 29,000 square feet and will include the offices and courtroom for the Justice of the Peace for Pct. One, Judge Dain Johnson, the office of Constable, Precinct One Robert Chody, a satellite office that includes a drive through window of Tax Assessor/Collector Deborah Hunt, and my office of the commissioner for precinct one. It will also include a large 2700 square foot community room with a kitchen. The community room will be available for county events and public use. The site also includes a public safety building, which will include an EMS station and a Sheriff’s Office substation. That building is approximately 6,400 square feet. The buildings are expected to be completed in late spring and a grand opening will be held then.
