Morrison holds fundraiser

Sheriff Wilson, Commissioner Morrison and Judge Carnes
Commissioner Ron Morrison recently held his first campaign fundraiser of the primary season. It was skeet shoot at the home of Jim and Lavon Mills near Georgetown. Mr. Mills is a local developer and a member of the board of directors of the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority and also of the local Scott and White hospital and clinic. Attendees of the event participated in a shooting contest on the property. Cary Rabb, president of the local convenience store chain, Wag-a-Bag, won the contest.

Following the shoot, a fried fish dinner was served and Commissioner Morrison made some remarks. He started by thanking everyone for attending and giving him a rare opportunity to speak, since in his view, the other commissioners tend to generally speak more than he does.

Several other elected officials attended the event, including Sheriff James R. Wilson, District Judge Burt Carnes, District Judge Ken Anderson, Commissioner Valerie Covey, Constable Dale Vannoy, County Clerk Nancy Rister and Georgetown Mayor George Garver. Also attending was possible candidate for House District 20 State Representative Milton Rister.

Several Democrats are rumored to be considering a run against Commissioner Morrison, including former Round Rock ISD Trustee Brig Mireles, who was unsuccessful as Morrison’s opponent in the November, 2006 general election.
