Saturday afternoon class enjoying a warrior two pose.
Connecting with nature is hard in any city, as can be finding time to do that weekly yoga class you promised yourself you’d keep up with on January 1. Thankfully, the good people at HOSH yoga have created a class so invigorating, yet simultaneously relaxing, it’s practically addictive.
At the North end of McCarren Park HOSH Yoga, a non-profit organization focused on “experiencing and exploring healthier living through yoga, meditation, workshops and strong community development” offer a weekly outdoor 3:00 PM class, open to novices and experts alike.
The word Hosh (correctly spelled in one of the founder’s native language of Azerbaijani as XOS) translates to “pleasant,” “good” and "cute,” which are all words that sum up this Saturday afternoon offering. The friendly teaching staff will help you perfect your headstand or will walk you through your first downward facing dog as you stretch under the shade of the trees on the mats they provide. Best of all, HOSH is pay-what-you-wish, so this hour of outdoor Zen is affordable on any budget.
In the fall, HOSH plans to move into their permanent space in North Williamsburg, but will keep the outdoor class going as long as weather permits. But don’t worry -- the indoor classes will also be pay-what-you-wish, so fans will be able to keep up with their newly formed yoga habit year round.

I'll take it!
Great article, I especially love the pay as you wish, how refreshing to hear there are people who want to share their talents for the good of others and not just for their wallets. Would enjoy hearing more stories from the big city that actually sound like they are from a small town.
