Bit.Trip Core was the 100th WiiWare game.
In what has to be considered a stealth announcement, Nintendo announced three new Bit.Trip games. In a press release titled “Nintendo’s Holiday Lineup Has Something For Everyone,” Nintendo listed that, in addition to Bit.Trip Void, Aksys Games has three additional Bit.Trip titles in the works, and they are scheduled for release in Q4 2009 and Q1 2010.
Obviously, the press release did not reveal any other information. No specific release dates, no titles and no price- though if the past games are any indication, it will cost 600 Wii Points.
The Bit.Trip games are some of the best available on WiiWare and well worth their asking price. It is perhaps the best original series to have been launched on WiiWare, though with the LostWinds sequel, LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias, coming later this year, it has competition for that distinction. Perhaps due to this success, Bit.Trip Core had the honor of being the 100th WiiWare game released on the service.
It is great to see Aksys Games continue to support this series. It is a truly awesome retro experience, available only on WiiWare. Old school graphics and beats can easily draw the player in, and it really is a unique experience.
