Arthritis? 4 ways to naturally soothe aching joints

Arthritis is often associated with aging; however, it can affect individuals in all age groups. Arthritis means "joint inflammation", and is a general term that encompasses several diseases (including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and gout). Commonly experienced symptoms include pain, stiffness, tenderness, and swelling of a joint; although some types of arthritis can also cause fatigue, fever, or a rash. The amount of pain experienced by an individual with arthritis varies depending on factors associated with their particular case. Although prescription medication is commonly used for pain relief, there are also natural ways to help combat the debilitating symptoms of arthritis. Here are four easy ways to help naturally ease the pain of aching joints:

Healthy Food Choices

It's essential to eat food that is nourishing for our bodies to optimize our health. Inflammation occurs when our body reacts to rid itself of harmful stimuli--and certain foods can be a culprit. It's beneficial to avoid foods that are refined, high in gluten or sugar as they may cause or worsen inflammation. Some good food choices include: cabbage, fresh fruits, fish, vegetables, garlic and sweet potatoes.

Massage Therapy

Depending on the severity of arthritis pain, massage therapy specifically tailored for those experiencing joint pain may be beneficial.     Joint pain is a symptom of celiac disease, which requires a 100% gluten free diet. Please be tested before beginning a gluten free diet. I had severe unexplained knee pain in both of my knees for years before I was finally diagnosed with celiac disease. Knee pain is much better now!

    I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and definitely feel worse when I eat a lot of meat, dairy and gluten. Though it is a pain to restrict my diet so carefully, I would much rather control my inflammation with healing, natural foods than by solely depending on toxic medicines.

    I'm 14, and i have localized arthritis in the right side of my jaw, and it is very hard to open my mouth up enough to eat. I need a cheap, easy, at-home method to soothe my jaw so i can eat, period.
