The weight loss let down

While losing the excess weight is a dieters goal, and the splendor of slipping into a pair of skinny jeans may bring satisfaction, research suggests that some losers experience a let  down after weight loss. Experts say the diet obsessed society leads hopeful dieters to hold unrealistic expectations of what weight loss will do for them, bringing dissatisfaction when their goals are met.

Body Image

Researchers reveal many formerly overweight individuals still "feel fat," despite what the scale says. Though their body has changed, their body image has not. Body image experts claim it’s not uncommon for people, particularly women, who have lost a great deal of weight to be disappointed upon discovering that though the weight is gone, they still aren’t perfect.

Depression and bariatric surgery

Some losers live in fear of gaining back the weight, and are driven to feelings of depression. According to an article published by the New York Times, bariatric surgery patients appear to be at higher risk for killing themselves.

Weight loss wars apparently wage well after the pounds have dropped, and for some are just beginning.

This article is absolutely true, especially the part about body image. We all hold a mind's eye view of ourselves, and often that view doesn't match the external view. This is one of the reasons why dieters regain the weight, they haven't updated their internal view of themselves. I know, because it happened to me after losing 135 lbs, I still felt fat and saw myself as fat. I had to change this, and I did, which allowed me to keep the weight off for the first time ever. I wrote a book called "Why Are You Weighting? It's Not The Food That's Making You Fat!" which teaches what I learned about how to reset your internal view of yourself. This is of the utmost importance to do to get and keep the weight off. You can get the book at WhyAreYouWeighting.com (Ebook, audiobook & paperback.) You can get and keep the weight off, but dieting alone is never going to do it. Learn how to change your mind, your internal view, and start living life at your ideal weight!
