Campbell’s has announced the immediate recall of Spaghetti-Os with Meatballs, Spaghetti-Os A to Z with Meatballs, and Spaghetti-Os Fun Shapes with Meatballs (Cars) due to fears of undercooked meat after it was discovered that the cooker in Paris, Texas did not provide the required amount of heat to the meatballs in each of these products.
The recalled products have "EST 4K," as well as a use-by date between June 2010 and December 2011 printed on the bottom of the can. The Spaghetti-Os were manufactured between December 2008 and June 2010 and were distributed to retail establishments nationwide. According to a company spokesman, Campbell Soup Companys estimates that there are currently about 35,000 cases (containing over 15 million pounds of food) in the market at this time.
Consumers should also be aware that the US Department of Agriculture as not received any reports of anyone becoming ill from the meat, and the company, itself, has had no complaints from customers, despite the fact that it is likely “much of the possibly contaminated Spaghetti-Os has already been consumed.”
Consumers with questions about the recall can call Campbell's Hotline at (866) 495-3774.
