The Lake County Forest Preserves has launched the 2010 edition of Hike Lake County. Participants hike 7 out of 12 designated Lake County Forest Preserve trails through November 30 to earn a free commemorative shield (and get some good exercise).
Start by downloading your free travel log. Record each hike with the date and your initials. Look for the HLC logo at each trailhead to get you going on the right route. If you take your dog along, record his or her name (up to 3 dogs) and your canine companion will receive their own free commemorative dog tag.
When you’ve completed at least seven of the trails, submit your travel log (by January 31, 2011) to receive your commemorative shield. The log can be brought to any Hike Lake County Center, mailed to the Lake County Forest Preserves office in Libertyville, or submitted online.
