American Idol contestant Mandisa Hundley credits her faith for her eighty pound weight loss.  With the help of a trainer and a counselor who specializes in eating disorders Mandisa is winning the battle with her food addiction.

My Deliverer

Mandisa's new song ''My Deliverer'' is a powerful and emotional tribute to God whom she relies on daily to help her with her weight loss and temptation struggles.  The song can be heard on Mandisa's official website  where she also shares more of her personal story.

No diets for Mandisa

Mandisa's view on diets is that they do not work for her so she embraces a lifestyle change which focuses on lean meats such as chicken and fish, whole grains, fruits and vegetables.  She tries to avoid sugar and white flour. Mandisa also makes sure she gets her daily amount of fiber (between 20-25 grams).

Mandisa's favorite exercise

Mandisa's personal trainer helps her with resistance training  and cardio between three and four times a week but she professes that her favorite form of exercise is Zumba.  Zumba is a high energy dance like program that has Latin and International rhythms woven into the music of the routines.

Taming temptations

When facing temptations Mandisa refocuses on healthy eating by turning to scriptures which she keeps with her. By turning to her scriptures she is able to rely on her faith to help her say no to fast food and other weight loss derailers.
