Biggest Loser season 9 finale recap slideshow
Right off the bat, Biggest Loser host Alison Sweeney, once again rockin' a red finale dress, announced that Daris would be joining Mike and Ashley in the finals (but we already knew that, didn’t we?). We also met Daris’ new girlfriend Heather.
We also got a sneak peek at season 3 winner Erik Chopin, who is now down 150 pounds from his rebound weight and looking great – probably better than he did at his finale since he’s at a healthier weight.
Then it was time to see how Shay from season 8 did. Last finale Shay weighed 304 pounds and now she’s at 252, a loss of 52 pounds. But she’s not done. She and Jared will train for a marathon 224 pounds since she started the show.
Cherita and Vicky look like sisters now. Ashley’s mom Sherry looks amazing as did Mike’s mom Maria. (There was some serious spray-tanning going on.)
First weigh-in:
- Cherita: 277 to 186; 91 pounds (all on her own).
- Vicky: 358 to 222; 126 pounds.
- Sherry: 218 to 119; 99 pounds.
- Maria: 281 to 167; 114 pounds.
Sam’s girlfriend Stephanie looks amazing. The “half-ton twins” James and John are still big guys but definitely smaller.
Second weigh-in:
- Patti: 243 to 170; 73 pounds.
- Stephanie: 264 to 165; 99 pounds.
- James: 485 to 357; 128 pounds.
- John: 484 to 335; 149 pounds.
At the end of round 2, tiny Sherry was still in the lead. But then it was time for “Booyah” Melissa and Lance, Migdalia and Miggy, who looked (say it with me) amazing.
Third weigh-in:
- Melissa: 233 to 143; 90 pounds (and some amazing guns!)
- Lance: 365 to 237; 128 pounds.
- Migdalia: 265 to 213; 52 pounds.
- Miggy: 240 to 149; 91 pounds.
“Never underestimate a girl in pink,” said Ali and she was right. After three rounds Sherry was still in it to win the at-home prize. O’Neal, everybody’s “Unc,” bounded down the steps looking super sharp.
Fourth weigh-in:
- O’Neal: 389 to 230; 159 pounds.
- SunShine: 275 to 161; 114 pounds.
- Darrell: 413 to 224; 189 pounds, taking the lead from Sherry.
- Drea: 298 to 214; 84 pounds.
Darrell was in the lead now, but it was time for Cheryl, Sam and Koli.
It was then time for a sneak peek at Losing It With Jillian, which premieres next week. We’ll be recapping her show, too.
Fifth weigh-in:
- Cheryl: 227 to 151; 76 pounds.
- Sam: 372 to 230; 142 pounds.
- Koli: 403 to 188; 215 pounds, winning the at-home prize with a loss of 53.35 percent of body weight.
Now it was time to see the three finalists (well, we already saw Daris at the start of the show). “Pink Ninja” Ashley looked stunning in her pink and red slim-fitting dress. Then it was time for Mike.
O.M.G.
He looks amazing. (Yeah, I know, come up with other descriptors.) But, wow, he was smoking hot in that black leather jacket and skull belt buckle. But it was time for the final weigh-in.
Final weigh-in:
- Daris: 346 to 178; 168 pounds; 48.55 percent.
- Ashley: 374 to 191; 183 pounds; 48.93 percent.
And then it was Mike’s turn to weigh in. But first he gave a white rose to his mom (aww) and made googly eyes at Ashley (awwwwwww!).
- Mike: 526 to 262; 264 pounds; 50.19 percent, breaking season 8 winner Danny Cahill’s weight loss record.

I honestly thought there might be a proposal this year so was surprised there wasn't one. I was very happy that Michael won but this year there really were no big surprises. In past seasons I always had one person I clearly wanted to win but this season I was content to have any of the final 3 win it. I'm still upset Tara didn't win a few seasons back LOL. Anyway I can't wait till the fall to see what they have in store for us. This show more than any other really drags you in and really makes you care for these people unlike any other show.
I thought everyone looked amazing! Koli looked sick and pale and kinda out of it though by the end, not his usual self. I was a little worried he was going to pass out or something. I didn't really have a fav this season, I pretty much liked everybody. I agree with the above poster, this show sucks you in with everybodys personalities. Great job!
I am really happy for Michael but the biggest loser was Koli. Koli had the higher percentage of weight loss. It's too bad people didn't vote for him because he would have won the title and the big prize. Winning the at-home prize is not bad. I think Koli appeared cocky to the viewers while Daris seemed more humble.
I had a feeling that Michael had the chance to win it but Koli was right behind him. Although I really liked Koli and Sam. There drive to achieve their goal. WOW! However, toward the last few weeks before the finale four Koli showed his true colors. I hope Koli looks deep inside himself and realizes his true personality. He needs to change before finding himself a girlfriend. As for Michael, good job. He really pushed himself. He figured out his game strategy and moved forward.
I'm so happy that Michael won! He had been through so much and he really deserved it. He kept a positive outlook throughout the whole season and I think he served as an optimistic light for all the other contestants. For personality and amazing transformation, Michael all the way. I hope he and Ashley get romantic... they would be too cute!
I was happy with the results. Mike, Ashley and Daris looked great. Koli came out like a lion but shortly became a lamb after he lost the audience vote. I think he knew he had won (53.35%) and was either either upset or just numb he didn't get our vote. I had no doubt that Daris would win the audience vote, he has such a gentle, kind, quiet nature about him. When Koli started playing the game I was very disappointed. He was instrumental in getting Stephanie voted out. I wonder what her and Sam thought after watching the show on television? Congratuations to Mike! He deserves the title and I know he can shop in regular clothes stores now.
Ok.. I must make mention. What the %&#*$ was Koli wearing? Pink pants? Really? Yeah. Ok... moving right along. When he was saying people were mistaking his confidence and swagger for cockiness, he's wrong. He ain't got swag. His low self esteem ooozes and when he starts smack talking, it's misplaced cockiness.
Michael looked fantastic, although... his pants were way too tight. I was not digging the outfit. At all.
Ashley looked great and Daris is a total doll.
All of the moms looked great!
To me, there were only 4 people who didn't look as "amazing" as everyone else; but still looked good; were the Brown Twins, Migdalia and Drea.
I think they all did great, but was pulling for Koli. Something is wrong with a show in which the loser of the most weight percentage, is not the winner of the show. Koli won, mike came in second. Period. And truly. I really liked Koli and Sam. I just got there fire and drive. Way to go boys!
i hate Ashleys pouch but she does look better. Sam looked just plain crazy and Koli has the body. But I did want Daris to win he is just too cute.

I mean if someone is givine me $1000 for every pound I lose, I'm going to go crazy and just lose as much as humanly possible!!! But she still did good and looked very pretty! Also, does anyone know the designer of Alison's dress for the finale from this season? (The off the shoulder red one?) Thanks!!!!!!

I mean if someone is givine me $1000 for every pound I lose, I'm going to go crazy and just lose as much as humanly possible!!! But she still did good and looked very pretty! Koli is AMAZING! He and Sam were the best people that have EVER been on Biggest Loser. Koli deserved to win the titile of BL and Im glad Daris didnt win anything. He didnt deserve Americas vote and I was disapointed that America voted for him. Gaining 2lbs is not what a BL would do.But it all worked out for the better because now Koli is 100,000 richer and Daris is left with that creeepy gf of his. CONGRATULATIONS TO KOLI! YOU ARE THE TRUE BIGGEST LOSER :)
I agree with the person who said that Koli's insecurities oozed from him. While I can understand him being upset the way he reacted last night was just horrendous. Saying that all he wanted to do was go home. To me it was like he was a little kid throwing a temper tantrum. I think part of why Daris won the vote is that so many of us can sympathize with falling off the wagon. We have all done it. It was honest and pure. Koli was running from facing the harsh reality of being home. While I'm happy for Koli that he won the at home prize I question if he will be able to maintain since his eye was just on the confetti not on the long term prize of health. It shows in those who did not win any money but were still so proud of how much they lost. While he just sulked.

What a great finish! Had to smile that Daris was in the final 3; he seemed to be a great guy. The moms of Ashley, Daris and Michael all three looked fantastic. And Miggie! Whew--she made such a transformation! I loved Ashley and Stephanie and they both rocked. Michael always had such a sense of humor, I'm happy he won. Happy that Sam & Stephanie connected, too.
Bob said it awhile back: the game players don't win the prize. Did Koli work hard? Yes he did. Did he lose a lot of weight? yes he did. But he was also a game player that the public didn't even like.
Technically Koli won and he has the bragging right of losing the most percentage-wise, but boy was he a sore loser? "I just want to go home." Where is the JOY? Ever since Daris got the votes, he was a sourpuss the ENTIRE evening, even after he won the $100,000. Daris got nothing, pal. Instead, he just sulked the entire evening. "I just want to go home." That's why America didn't vote for him, but I doubt he EVER get it. The biggest loser is more about numbers and more about spirit and a sense of self-worth. Koli still doesn't get it. He has no self-worth, still.
Koli technically won and he should be glad that he has the bragging right of having the highest percentage lost. But instead he has been nothing but a sore loser the entire evening, even after he won the $100,000. "I just want to go home." Where is the joy in his own achievements? Others'? That's why America didn't vote for him, because Koli just didn't get it. He can take some lessons from his cousin, Sam, who has a much better attitude and self-image, even without the $100,000 -- Sam came out a winner and Koli a sore loser.
i thought daris might like sunshine! geuss i was wrong. does ashely like daris or micheal? i am really confused. i thought sam would propose to stephine but geuss not. any other couples from this season?
I am so glad for Michael not because he won but because he looks happy. He was most definately a game player early on but I gradually warmed to him. He was so proud when he won that challenge. I too hope Koli looks inward. He was one of my early favorites: encouraging, positive, mature and inclusive. When Sam was voted off, Koli took a turn and became all about winning and forgot about becoming healthy and happy. I didn't vote for either because I couldn't choose between Koli and Daris. I like them both so well. Not too concerned about the 2# weight gain; it put him back on track. Besides he RAN a marathon with a great time. Sure hope he waits to get serious. G'friend may just be in it for her 15 minutes. Ashley looked fab!
Koli was upset that America didn't vote for him and voted for whiney Daris instead. Koli deserved to win and just because he wanted to win does not make him a bad person. Thats the point of the show... to lose weight, change your life and ultimatley be the Biggest Loser. It all worked out anyway because Koli won the 100,000 and he rightly deserved it because America got it wrong and voted for Daris. My congrats go out to koli, sam and Michael who admittedly looked awesome.
does anyone else here dislike stephanie? i dont think she is right for sam and i think she is the kind of person htat would try to come between koli and sam. i think koli pegged her right earlier in the season. sam deserves so much better.
Koli should have won this... he lost more than anyone in season 9.

i think the right person WON. michael worked and lost more pounds than koli. he look better than koli..way better.
