On a similar, ahem, artistic level as the shrieking banshees of the Oreo Cakesters TV commercial that I recently ranted about, the recent ad for Dannon Light & Fit yogurt is another one of those diet food ads targeted to women that makes me nuts.
We get it -- you think your yogurt is tasty. (I prefer nonfat Greek yogurt myself). But I think the woman at the grocery store can probably restrain herself from slurping down the container in the dairy aisle. And really, if you can slurp your yogurt it's probably full of water.
But it's the same scenerio as the Cakesters ad -- an attractive THIN woman losing her business over "diet food." Doesn't send a good message.

Your product is perhaps very good but I'm concerned about the presentation of your message. It appears as though a female customer consumes the yogurt but is checking around to see if anyone has seen her.
Is she worried that she has done something wrong? Your messaage is confusing!

Yes I agree that this commercial is disgusting. I almost throw up everytime it comes on. Not only the stealing factor but the sexual inuendo that it is presenting. There must be a better way to promote this product or a way to petition that it be removed.

I agree!! I was watching tv and this disgusting ad came on. I just sat there thinking to myself, "Is she a porn star on the side?" The commercial makes me angry because no woman in there right mind would... filat(io) a damn cup of yogurt. It's rides a fine line between inuendo and obscenity.

Okay, I'll be as fair as I can and admit that food/eating noises are like nails on a chalkboard for me. That being said, I'm glad that there are others that recognize the disgusting sexual innuendo in this commercial! My family & friends keep saying I have a dirty mind! Thank goodness I have mute and a fast forward button on my remote. I was watching a 1 hour show I DVR'ed yesterday and had to ffwd through that commercial 3 times! Not only is it a stupid, disgusting commercial but they overplay the thing! Don't get me started on the equally disgusting Pace Salsa commercial where the man's chip won't fit into the jar! The constant, enhanced crunching of the chips make me want to shove a screwdriver in my ears. I thought the commercial was for the salsa, not the chips.
Every time I see this commercial, I have to ask, "Do they even realize who they're trying to market to? Teenage boys? Seriously."

This commercial is the second most annoying commercial next to the vermont teddy bear commercial that came out last valentines. Both these commercials make throwing my TV out the window seem like a good idea at the time.
I LOVE this commercial...! The actress is hot, the sounds are great, the yogurt is delicious. Very tastefully done!
i also find this ad offensive, and grotesque. The sound effects are disgusting, and the sexual inuendo is obvious. So much so, that my teenage son claims that its the talk among the other boys at school. I thinks it is pretty sad, and will no longer purchase this product. Dont we teach our children when they're toddlers not to pick up things off the shelf and put them in thier mouths?????? this companies marketing dept. should be ashamed....
This commercial is disgusting. While I usually have the TV sound on mute when it comes on, still I really hate the way the woman slurps down the yogurt and then makes this really simpering "oops" kind of stupid smile - like she couldn't help herself or something. Now that I am reading some of the comments, I realize that men get more of a thrill out of this commercial than women do - because of the (oral) sexual innuendo. However, one would think that since this is a "diet Product" that the target market would be women, not men. Anyway, I will NOT buy this product due to this offensive disgusting and degrading commercial.
I totally agree with Megan - ad agencies and their clients must understand that enhanced slurping/crunching/smacking in a commercial does NOT entice all, if ANY consumers!! Eating noises have that fingernails-on-a-chalkboard effect on me, too and I'm sure many more consumers - we're usually taught as children it's offensive. If I hit mute, turn the channel or boycott a product because the ad is offensive, that's money wasted for the company that hired the idiotic ad agency. They should be forced to listen to the ad about 100 times before it hits the airwaves. Ditto for the McDonald's Sweet Tea radio ad with the "slurp - aaahhhh"...
After seeing this commercial, i won't allow my wife to eat any yogurt but dannon light and fit(joking). But seriously, nothing gets more more excited than to watch her slurp it down just like that girl in the commercial, I never knew yogurt could be so...exciting? Hats off to dannon for proving that yes, yogurt CAN be sexy, and tasty too!
I hate this commercial so much, I had to look on line to see if I was the only one. I don't really get the sexual inuendo, it's just a gross slurping sound and a guilty-acting slurper. (is that a word?) Yuck, yuck, yuck.
I used to buy this product and no longer will. I don't care about any inuendo. It's just disgusting and I can't even look at it. To top it off, the model has some thing on the side of her face. Like what were they thinking when they shot this commercial!!!! I WANT TO PUKE!!

The first time I saw this commercial I nearly fell out of my chair laughing so hard - it's hilarious! The sexual innuendo didn't register until many viewings later but it's not the main reason I like the spot. It's just plain funny!

I was so disgusted by this commercial that I wrote Dannon a letter and complained. I have switched yogurt brands and will NOT buy this particular product again. If more people would contact the company and complain, perhaps trashy commercials like the one above would be removed.
LOL. Why are you guys so upset? I used to hate this commercial so SO much, but after trying Light & Fit because it was the only light yogurt the little store I went to had, I am officially addicted. Throw in some Granola and OMG....I feel just like that crazed yogurt slurping twig of a woman.

No one has mentioned the fact that the woman is STEALING the yogurt... she "eats" it in the aisle and then drops the empty container on the floor. Nice message.
