Biggest Loser week 11 recap: Health, wealth and football with the final 5

We’re down to the final five in week 11 of The Biggest Loser and we got to relive Rudy’s weasely elimination of Rebecca. Amanda’s worried that she’s got a big, youthful target on her back since Rudy, Danny, Allen and Liz have been voting in a pack.

Quote of the week, from Rudy in the gym: “Day 1 Rudy would have puked after the first 10 minutes.”

It was great to see how far the contestants had come in their workout stamina and ability. “Day 1 Liz? Train wreck,” said Jillian. “Week 11 Liz? Athlete.”

Alison introduced Suze Orman to the crew (synergy city!), who helped make the connection between wealth and health. “Obesity is a very expensive disease,” she said. One of those expenses is life insurance, which costs more if you’re over a certain weight. She reminded Allen to make sure and call his insurance agent when he gets home and adjust his premium down. They then took an eye-opening quiz while chugging on treadmills. One scary factoid: How much do Americans spend on gastric bypass surgery in a year? Yikes, $4.4 billion. And we’ll be able to see more of Suze Orman’s chat with the Biggest Loser contestants on Saturday at 9 p.m. on CNBC.

Then Jillian had a heart to heart with Danny and Allen about just how much she loves Multigrain Cheerios. That talk came straight from the heart, people.

Bob had a last-week-on-campus talk and it freaked Danny out because 20 years ago he thought he had licked his weight problem and it all came back and then some. Amanda had big separation issues with Bob, as did he with her. The two became best buddies. “I was looking for heroes this season,” Bob said. “I found one in you.”

The challenge: On the gridiron with football Hall of Famer Rod Woodson cheering them on, the contestants had to carry a barrel of weighted footballs across the field and dump the footballs out. The winner gets a trip to the 2010 Pro Bowl in Miami (y’all wanna bunk at my house?) and $5,000 of athletic equipment to a school of the winner’s choice. The physical manifestation of their former weight is an enlightening exercise in how tough it can be to exercise when you’re morbidly obese. Allen breezed through the challenge and whupped his former fat foam self. He donated the athletic equipment to his daughter’s school.

Danny kicked off the second hour with a song he wrote about the weight-loss journey. At first I thought “hoo boy, here we go,” but it was really quite good. (Put it on iTunes, NBC!)

Last-chance workout: Rudy and Danny, the “two big elephants” as Danny put it, went head to head on the stairclimber. Sweat was spewing from Rudy’s head like a fountain.

Weigh-in and elimination: Rudy and Danny were both primed to set Biggest Loser records. Rudy would be the person to lose the most weight in 11 weeks and Danny could own the record of the most consecutive double-digit weight losses. Liz lost 5 pounds and made it to One-derland. And Rudy, with his 12-pound loss (seriously?) made it below 300. (What would that be, Two-town?) That makes 146 pounds lost in 11 weeks. O.M.G. Allen’s already looking great – so the 8-pound loss was icing on the rice cake.

Quote of the week, part 2 from Allen: “Life will definitely be a whole lot better now that I’m a whole lot better.”

Back to the weigh-in: Danny lost an amazing 16 pounds – whaaat???-- and broke that record. Last up was Amanda, who lost 7 pounds to keep herself above the yellow line. Danny won and weigh-in and a home visit from chef Curtis Stone to teach him and his family how to cook healthfully. So Allen and Liz were up for elimination. Allen quickly pulled Amanda aside and told her how it would be in her best interest to keep him in the game instead of Liz. Danny voted to keep his teammate Liz in the game. Rudy voted to eliminate Liz, so that put it in Amanda’s hands and she voted to eliminate Allen.

Boo!

The update: Allen was super classy in his exit and just about the only male on The Biggest Loser to not have saggy moobs. Today he’s down to 220 pounds, looking fantastic, and apparently the Indianapolis Colts mascot wants to get in on the game!

Next week: The final four contestants go home to reunite with family and friends, and learn that when they return to the ranch, they’ll be running a full marathon. Cheering them on will be season 7 winner Helen Phillips and finalists Tara Costa and Mike Morelli. The final weigh-in will determine two finalists, and viewers will get to vote on who will be the third finalist to compete for the grand prize.

And we're not done with The Biggest Loser this week. Wednesday at 8 p.m. is the Where Are They Now special, which features 40 former contestants.

Good Morning! Did anyone catch Allen on Leno? He's down to 200lbs and looked great! (dorky outfit, tho). They did a cooking segment with Jay, Charles Barkley and Allen. He was teaching them to make healthy pizza. It was hilarious!

I also loved Danny's song. It was great! Can't wait for tonight's "where are they now!" show! I need a whole barrelful of inspiration to kick me right in the tush!
