Biggest Loser season 9 contestant Melissa on scales, boxing therapy and feuds

In her six weeks at the Biggest Loser ranch, contestant Melissa Morgan, 39, had gained a reputation as a game player, mostly because of those mystifying weigh-ins in the early weeks of season 9. One week she gained 1 pound, the other week she only lost a pound. And it was her 1-pound gain this week that got her sent home during the Olympics week episode.

But she says she's no player.

"Week 2 and week 3 was absolutely not game play. That was as real as real can be," Morgan said Wednesday afternoon. "I'm not playing the game. I’m really struggling with my weight here."

And her roller coaster weight loss has continued at home as well.

"When I came home, I actually had a week where I lost zero pounds and I had a week where I gained 3 pounds," Morgan said. "So my roller coaster ride has been consistent at home as well as it was on the ranch."

And that can be frustrating. I asked her how she copes with those scale readings.

"You cry, to be honest," she said with a laugh. "I’m not going to pretend like I don’t. I mean I have my bad days. And, you know, boxing, seriously, is therapy. Everyone should try it."

Boxing is Morgan's new love and exercise of choice.

"I really feel so much better when I come to the gym," she said. "I have made myself realize that that scale’s not going to do what my mind thinks it should do. And I have convinced myself that I just have to keep going because there’s going to be a point in time when that number is going to go down."

And what of that feud she had with Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels? The training duo was convinced that she had thrown the weigh-ins, despite her pleas to the contrary.

"My personality is to hold a grudge forever and not let it go. And I realized that I can’t be that person anymore," Morgan said. "That person was the fat girl that showed up on Biggest Loser campus. And there were just so many things in my life that needed to change and that was one of them.

"So I literally had to let it go, put all that behind me and just keep moving forward whether they believed it or not."

Remember, Biggest Loser will be back Tuesday, March 2 with new episodes. First order of business will be that Cheryl vs. Darrell cliffhanger.
