Abby Rike, eliminated on week seven of The Biggest Loser, got to be a cover girl for Life & Style magazine, out now.
What's all the media attention like? "I just sit back and kind of giggle," she said. "Everyone has been so kind and it's so out of the ordinary for what my life has always been, but it's been fantastic, completely unexpected, but so much fun."
Now down a little more than 80 pounds – “Different scales say different things!” she said – the 32-year-old teacher turned motivational speaker continues her weight loss journey. She said she put on a “ton of muscle” at the ranch but still wants to lose 15 to 20 pounds of fat to be at a “super healthy weight,” she said.
Favorite foods: “I try not to be a slave to the scale," she said. "I eat super clean and work out super hard.” Some of her favorite go-to foods are carrots and hummus, low-sodium turkey breast, Greek yogurt and blueberries, which she calls her “fast food” that she can grab at any grocery store.
Favorite workout: One of her favorite workouts now is a “body combat” class, which she describes as a mix of martial arts and a lot of punching and kicking. “I go out of there drenched in sweat,” she said of the class that lets her release all the stresses of the day. She didn’t get a chance to work out like that on the Biggest Loser ranch because of her stress fracture. “I was literally in the pool for pretty much the whole time I was on the ranch,” she said. “That’s where I burned my calories.”
Friends with Vicky: One of her workout buddies now is former Biggest Loser contestant Vicky "Icky Vicky" Vilcan. “I moved back to Houma, La., where Vicky is from,” she said and became Internet buddies with Vicky and her husband Brady through MySpace. Vicky had sent her a Biggest Loser casting call packet with a VIP pass so that she didn’t have to stand in line.
“She and I workout whenever I’m in Louisiana,” she said and call Vicky and Brady “a great support system” since she got home. Of the evil Vicky persona portrayed on the show: “I think there’s been a real misperception of Vicky,” Rike said.
